While it is not as simple to use as the videos demonstrate, this product can be a useful tool for quickly kindling wood.
There are a few things you should know before making a purchase..
1. CHECK TO SEE THAT YOUR DRILL HAS ENOUGH POWER. It is not necessary to use a cordless or a low-power off-brand drill; these will not suffice. A material that will not bind when subjected to light pinching or pressure is required.
This definitely works better on smaller logs and softer woods, as demonstrated in step 2. It will work on hard woods, but it will require a little more effort.
3, HEALTH AND SAFETY!. Make certain that you are STANDING ON the piece you are attempting to split apart or that it is securely in place. Aside from that, your drill will spin it in an unnatural manner, either cracking you in the leg or rolling/rotating your wrist.
The use of this product, combined with a little common sense, can save you time in your search for sticks. Simply put, be wise.
