“12” in the style “Miter Saws that slide

The DEWALT DWS779 sliding compound miter saw is precision at its toughest, giving you the accuracy and capacity you need for your everyday work on the job.
This miter saw has a powerful 15 Amp, 3800 RPM motor that gives it more power and durability.
At 90 degrees, the tall sliding fences can hold up to 2×14 dimensional lumber, and at 45 degrees, 2×10 dimensional lumber.
A cam lock miter handle with a detent override makes it easy to make quick and accurate miter angles.

If you want to cut something, this is a great saw because it is both very good at what it does and strong.
There have been some changes made to this this by DeWalt, but that’s not all.
Make sure the DWS779 you get is not the same DWS779 that people got a few years ago.
Please look at the attached picture to see how an old DWS779 and a new DWS779 look.
A lot of things are different.

#1. The old dws 779 had a better 60 tooth blade than the new one.
Dws 779 has a lower quality blade with 32 teeth, but it’s still better than the old one.
For rough construction cuts, the 32 tooth blade is great. If you want to do a lot of trim work, you’ll need a better blade with more teeth.
There will be an extra charge for this.

# 2. On the old DWS 779, there is a special back fence that lets you cut extra wide material up to 16 inches long “In this case, I would say:
There are two holes in the fence that you use to hold the deck in place.
The new Dws 779 doesn’t have these holes, so you can’t attach the special deck to it.
Now, the maximum width is about 13.75 (maybe 14”), but that could change.

This is the third reason why the old DWS 779 has crown stops (Pawls) that make setting the bevel angle of the saw to 22.5 and 33.9 degrees very easy.
This is what happens when you cut the crown in a flat direction.
There are no crown stops (pawls) on the new DWS779.

#4: The old DWS 779 has a slide lock lever. This puts the slide in the right place for the best vertical cuts.
Another good thing about this is that it helps you quickly lock the slide and not have to use the screw in the back.
Is there a slide lock lever on the new DWS 779?

It has a kerf plate that has two parts.
This lets you change how far the blade drops so that it can help you make small and precise cuts.
The new DWS 779 can’t be changed because the kerf plate is all one piece.

These are all changes that may help Dewalt save money.
However, this saw still has an MSRP of $559.
If you were getting the original dws779, this would make sense.
This saw should have a new model number so people can see what has changed.
I’m not sure if I’ll keep or return this saw.
This means that if you want to use all of DWS779 features, you’ll need to buy the DWS780 (all features are on the DWS780 plus you get the XPS cut light).
