That is exactly what the description claims, and it is a blatant, bald-faced fabrication. The base is made of aluminum die-casting. The remainder of the components are made of ferrous metals (i.e. fasteners, screw, slide rod, face plates). For me, this was extremely important, and it was the primary reason for my purchase.. I wanted to use a set of magnet jaws in the vise for irregularly shaped objects, which was why I purchased it.
However, because the jaw places are not flush with the tops of the jaws, the magnetic jaw will not snap to the 2.0mm thick jaw plates and will not stay in place.
To be fair, the overall quality of the parts and workmanship is exceptional. Although the vendor’s misrepresentation has saved me time and money, it has required me to search for a drill vice that is actually made of cast iron (or steel).
