All frame parts layed out together to make sure I have everything. Well… That escalated quickly ;). I glue up one layer at a time and after each layer I calibrate everything using a wide belt sanding machine. More layers :). After most layers were glued up I used the “Paul” to prepare it.

Marked the finished length on it and wrapped it round the circumference of the wheel. All these parts are finished with a couple of coats of Danish oil to keep them clean for now. Once the saw is finished and any adjustments made I’ll disassemble it and do a few coats of varnish thinned with Danish oil.

Really in depth and a bit confronting at first, I spent a week at work going over them and finally spent the last 3 days off working on the frame both days and evenings. I’ve already spent enough that would’ve bought me a decent bandsaw but that includes some new tools to make it. All 6 main frames were glued together and at least another 6 more clamps were applied then shown above.

Currently the belt tension is just being set by the motor weight, but I’m going to add a spring loaded adjustment to the front of the mount so I can adjust the tension as needed. Eventually I’m going to let this into the top frame member and add some kind of visual indication of spring compression for setting the tension.
