Having used the sander for about 6 months, I know I can pick it up and use it without giving belt tracking a single thought – although I do recommend checking it each time, anyway. Clamp the back of the belt sander to the board, and viola! I intend to put a hinge and pins on it and screw it to a workbench where I can easily ajust the angle of the sander, but I haven’t done that yet. To flip the nose guard up, I had to loosen a couple of the shell assembly screws near the front of the sander, and then remove a little metal retaining pin.
