There’s an automatic tool setter for CNC routers called GRBL Z-probe. The thickness: 19.2mm.

It can be used with the 3018Pro, 3018Pro-M, and 3018Max control boards, as well as other control boards that need 2.54mm DuPont terminals.

It is called the “Tool Setting Function. It can find the working surface very well, and is best for engraving on PCBs.

Easy to Us.

If you want to see how it should be used, you can look at our video.

Please change the Probe command in Grbl to: G91G21G38.2Z-40F100; G92Z19.2; G0Z1.

3018PROVer: I have a CNC Router that is down at the moment, so I haven’t shown this set up or in use. With the metal flat touch plate and the alligator clip with a wire, I can set the zero point for my router’s Z Axis. To use the touch plate, I used a simple flat bolt head that I put in the round plastic case. I also added a 32” wire so I can connect it to my CNC router control board. The only instructions that are specific are there. A similar item has some instructions that might be helpful, so I’ve added them to the list.

To use: Connect the wire of this tool check instrument to the tool setting port on the control board. Clip: The alligator clip goes to a ground wire on the control wire (the alligator clip can be clamped on the spindle, but the spindle bottom plate must be connected). When the tool is reached, the setting of the tool is done.

It’s important to turn on your device after you put the tool holder in place (do not start the spindle motor). To clamp the alligator clip on, don’t do it right away.

Touch the knife block with the alligator clip to see if it moves.

Clip the spindle to get automatic tool setting. Make sure there isn’t a problem first.

1. The control card tool signal is sent by a white wire (red in this case) that goes to the white wire.

In this case, the control card’s GND signal is being sent through the black wire.

The GRBL code for this can be found in the small instruction sheet that comes with it. Change the probe order in your Grbl software: “G90G21G38.2Z-40F100; G92Z1.6; G0Z10,” says the quote I just read. As that might be useful to someone, I’ve put it in this review.

Recommendation: I can say that this Grbl Z Probe for CNC Z-Axis Router Touch Plate Tool Setting Probe is good.

I hope you’ve found my review and the information I’ve shared with you useful.
