This was purchased for use in heavy-duty applications. After drilling a 1/2″ hole into 1/8″ steel for the first time today, the machine made an unhealthful cracking noise inside when the drill broke through at the bottom of the hole, and there has been a funny unclean noise in the gears ever since, even when it is idle.

I was extremely disappointed. The return period had expired two days prior.

Update: Today, I used a 6″ hole saw to drill holes into 1 1/2″ solid wood with a hammer. There was plenty of power, and the machine did not overheat excessively. The rating has been raised from 2 to 5 stars.
