Consider the following: Let us pretend that I have never used an electric planer before, that purchasing this item represents a significant learning curve, and that I approach the use of any power tool – especially one that has the potential to slice off pieces of objects – with more than a little caution. In addition, let’s pretend that, when confronted with a neatly packed array of pieces, I immediately went in search of an instruction manual for how to put it all together. Finally, let us pretend that the box contained a “instruction manual” that explained the tool’s features, technical specifications, safety precautions, maintenance, and accessories, among other things. There is absolutely nothing about how to put it together, and there is absolutely nothing about how to operate it. There are no illustrations at all. We can’t imagine that they don’t have competent technical writers even at their manufacturing location (China). At this point, I would strongly advise against it. It remains to be seen whether this will be yet another tool that I will be unable to utilize.
