Pros. At a great price, you can get a fully functional hammer drill/drill/driver.
Cons: It’s not quite as efficient as a corded hammer drill, but it gets the job done just as effectively.
Using this tool for all three of its rated duties, including boring through block and poured concrete, has proven to be a worthwhile investment. Never fails to meet my expectations, and it has a long battery life. There are no issues with the hammer drill setting, the drill has a variety of speeds and excellent RPM and trigger control, and the torque settings on the driver clutch are excellent for safely and firmly seating fasteners. Among its few shortcomings is the lack of a depth gauge (though I believe Ryobi does sell a different One+ hammer drill that does have one), as well as the fact that it isn’t quite as fast or efficient in hammer drilling as my corded Bosch hammer drill (meaning just a handful of seconds slower to bore a hole, nothing too significant). Although you cannot reasonably expect that level of performance from a cordless tool, it was still able to complete the task at hand with little difficulty. Because of the toolless chuck and cordless operation, I was probably able to complete the boring job with this tool in less time, even though the actual drilling was slower, because I didn’t have to go find an extension cord, plug everything in, and crank down the bit in the chuck with the chuck key as I had to with other tools.
