Torque wrenches make use of ratchet insert tools, which are described below. When these insert tools are used in conjunction with torque wrenches with greater capacity, the limits must not be exceeded.
Since the early 1990s, I’ve relied on my Stahlwille Manoskop torque wrench to get the job done. When I was working for Siemens in Germany, I became a big fan of Stahlwille’s work. I replaced the heart-shaped spring in my old ratchet insert about a decade ago, but there is enough wear on the old ratchet insert now that it is more cost-effective to replace it than to repair it.
The Manoskop torque wrench appeared to be a significant investment at the time, but thirty or so years later, I don’t have much to complain about other than the fact that the ratchet insert has worn out. At the very least, Stahlwille allows me to replace only the insert.
The Manoskop itself is still in good working order. After I’m gone, my son will be the one to use my Stahlwille tools.
