Contrary to popular belief, I purchased this impact wrench for use on my automobiles, despite the fact that it was not intended for this type of work. As a result, I purchased a Porter Cable compressor C2002-WK that was clearly not designed for this type of work because money was tight at the time. I couldn’t find an impact wrench that produced the same or even close to the specified output of the compressor, which is 2.6 SCFM, so I made do with what I had. 2.7 SCFM is required for this one, so I figured I’d give it a shot.
The wrench is exactly what you’d expect from Ingersoll Rand..except it’s smaller, its tiny, and I don’t have particularly large hands to begin with. Even though it is small in stature, this Impact tool performs exactly as it is advertised. However, I haven’t tested the output against a specifically torqued bolt or nut, but it easily removes suspension nuts and bolts from my car, so I’m pleased with the results.
The wrench is lightweight, fits comfortably in the hand, and has a high level of quality that is consistent with all IR tools. I’ve used a lot of high-powered snap-on impact wrenches in the past at the shop where I worked, and while this isn’t nearly as powerful as those, it does the job and is extremely ergonomic.
I intend to put it through its paces with a torqued bolt in the near future, and I will update this review accordingly.
