This was purchased to polish the basement floor, which is approximately 150 square feet. I was hesitant after reading numerous articles and watching videos, but I went ahead and did it anyway. The floor turned out beautifully, and the polisher was excellent. The process began with the use of chemicals to remove linoleum glue. Using Goo Gone, you can remove the paper backing, and a strong adhesive remover combined with a good metal scraper can remove the glue. I tried using a heat gun, but Goo Gone worked much better. I started with a 200-grit pad because that appears to be the grit at which hardener is being applied at this time. So I went through 200 grit, hardener, 400 grit, and 800 grit before applying a sealer. I’m very pleased with it, and my wife is as well. I was not shocked, and I did not wear an apron, but because I am elderly, knee pads were a must. Preparation included spraying the area with water prior to beginning, turning the water on at the lowest setting possible, and grounding in a consistent pattern. This appeared to work perfectly, and I don’t believe that a large amount of water was required. The grinder and pads performed admirably; I am extremely pleased with my purchase.
