There are numerous reviews of this mill available online, so I will not go into detail about it here. Check out hossmachine.com for a plethora of interesting information and mods, including CNC mods, to try out. That was the deciding factor in my decision to purchase this mill as opposed to other similar BF20-based mills on the market. However, while there is nothing wrong with the other variants, and some of the vendors out there are excellent (e.g., PM Matthews), the G0704 is for me the best blank canvas for customization. It will eventually be CNC-cut, with a larger motor and belt drive being added (3 phase with a VFD, that I already have). Shipping from Grizzly was handled flawlessly (although the majority of the credit should go to the carrier and pure luck), and there was absolutely no damage at all during the shipping process. There is one trick I’d like to share with everyone: to hoist the machine off the pallet and into the cabinet, I used an adjustable ladder, which I opened up with a 4×4 at the top of the first rung, as well as a WEN 120V portable winch that I already owned. With the help of a short web strap that is wrapped around the lowered head.. An inexpensive 1 ton chain hoist from Harbor Freight could accomplish the same task. The important thing to remember is that the ladder must be tall enough to reach the cabinet. A Woodtek mobile base was placed under my cabinet, which enabled the stationary hoist to function properly. The use of an engine/shop crane would be an alternative solution. Another thing to keep in mind is that there is a typo in the owner’s manual, which states that during break in, you should run it in forward, then reverse at various speeds. Reverse will only run at half the speed of the forward direction, especially at higher rates. This is completely normal.
