The 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 5″ Random Orbit Sander (model XOB01Z, tool only) gives woodworkers more time and mobility. XOB01Z has three speeds, better ergonomics, and up to 40 minutes of run time on one charge (battery sold separately). I love Makita tools, and I have a lot of other 18v tools that work well, too. But this little sander isn’t very powerful. It doesn’t move or shake as much as my plug-in model. Then, it will take longer to sand. Cordless mobility is nice, but the battery makes it heavy, which makes it hard to move around and use quickly. Afterwards, I had to get out my plug-in Makita 18v to finish the job. It is stronger and lighter. It’s bad. My main goal was to like this model and get rid of my corded one.
