As advertised, this is NOT a variable speed device. That which was sent to me had been opened, with the cord not bundled but rather hanging loose. It appears that this was a returned item. We intend to return as soon as possible. Tried to calibrate it with a torque calibration meter, but only managed 180 ft pounds, rather than the 450 advertised by the manufacturer. I was extremely disappointed..
