Buy 7/8

3/4″ shaft is a standard size.

Designed to be inserted into the jaws of a chuc.

It eliminates the need to take the chuck apart.

It is a perfect match for the NOVA four jaw chuck.

The center pin is spring-loaded.

The NOVA 7/8 inch flexible point drive center is a clever design that is popular among Spindle turners because of its ease of use and reliability. Because of the “flexible point,” which is a spring-loaded center point, you can set your workpiece in place (or remove it) while turning on the Lathe. When you increase Tailstock pressure and the drive center teeth bite into the wood, your workpiece will begin to spin as a result. It will drive your work with light pressure, but it will also allow it to come to a halt if you have a catch (minimizing damage to your workpiece). Increasing the amount of pressure applied will allow it to power through even the most severe cuts. The flexible point drive center is less likely to split your workpiece than a standard spur because its multiple teeth distribute the pressure over a larger area.

It works perfectly and eliminates the need for me to take my chuck off and on. When working with soft woods, you must pay close attention and ensure that your tail stock is pressing firmly against the work piece, otherwise the center of the work piece may spin out. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase.
