In a small package, the DCCF887 DEWALT 20V MAX* XR 1/4-inch 3-Speed Impact Driver has 1825 in-lb of torque and is only 5.3 inches from front to back, making it easy to use. The multi-speed settings make it easier to work in a wide range of situations. Precision Drive in speed 1 gives you more control by preventing over-tightening and damage to screws and other parts.
Disappointed: I didn’t like this thing. It came up on a lot of lists as the best driver. If you want to work with wood, this product has a big problem with i. The first setting has no torque at all. There’s no way to put a 1″ wood screw into even soft wood. It stops halfway through. #2 has a lot of power. Really, it costs too much for simple wood screws. In this case, it’s hard to keep the depth under contro. For some reason, the #1 setting is thought to be for very small screws or delicate work. I don’t know why I would even use this type of driver for that kind of work.
The product is great for things like lag bolts, deck screws, and machine bolts. It doesn’t work well for things like woodworking, though, so don’t use it for that. #1 setting needs more torque so there is less of a difference in torque between #1 and #2 setting. I returned the first one I bought because I thought there was something wrong with it. Second one is the same. I gave it two stars only because it’s good for a lot of work, as other people have said. Still not sure if I should send it back.
