Following the removal of the guard. I was able to get away with using an 8″ x 3/8″ grinding disk for this. I was able to get a good grip on the 1/2-inch bolts I was grinding. I used it to create a shower of sparks off some steel plates for 25 minutes nonstop, and the motor didn’t even get hot.

Using a 7″ by 1/8″ thick cutoff disk, I was able to run it through a solid 2″ by 3″ by 3-inch block of billet aluminum without any issues in about 30 seconds. Although not as fast as a band saw, a table saw is significantly more portable and versatile.

If you purchase disks with a 5/8″ hole, you will need to purchase or make a spacer to ensure that the disk is held securely in place. This was accomplished by boring out a washer to the proper ID. The fact that you have 5/8-11 screw on disks is not a problem, obviously. The majority of the disks I use are from Harbor Freight, making them extremely affordable.
