With the 20V MAX* XR brushless, cordless 1/4 sheet variable speed sander, you get the power and runtime you need to get the job done quickly. A variable-speed dial lets you set the speed between 8,000 and 14,000 OPM for a variety of jobs. It is easy to attach the dust bag to the sander with one hand. The user can also attach the sander directly to the DWV010 or DWV012 dust collectors (sold separately). Rubber overmold grips make sanding more comfortable. Paper clamps are made to hold paper in place and be easy to install. Batteries and chargers are not sold together.

For most jobs, cordless sanders are the way to go, no question. Random orbital sanders are easy to use because they have pre-made hook and loop pads. There are only a few options for them. Here comes the palm sheet sander. You have to cut your sandpaper sheet to the right size and punch holes in it for dust removal, but it gives you so many more options.

They usually come in a range of 40 grit to 220 or 320 at most stores. However, you can buy sheets of sandpaper with grits that go up to thousands, which is what you need to polish metal. They also cost less than random orbital pads. Sandpaper sheets are also a lot cheaper than random orbital pad.

Finally, this can get into right angles that a round random orbital sander can’t, which is why this is better than one that is round. So even though I still reach for my orbital most of the time, this is a great thing to say about it.
