It’s a shame, really. For the tool itself, I’d give it five stars. However, I must take into consideration the fact that I spent a considerable amount of time researching which multi tool I intended to purchase. Despite the fact that I’ve already invested in Milwaukee’s 12v line, their 12v multi tool is a disappointment. It is not brushless, and as a result, it lacks the necessary power that a contractor requires on a daily basis. As a result, I knew going into the meeting that I was considering investing in another line of tools. I don’t like having a plethora of one-off tool brands and battery types, so if I buy one tool, I intend to buy them all from that manufacturer. A large part of what drew me to the Skill line of tools was the price, but every review I have read so far has praised the “bang for your buck” that the tools provide. In light of a job that required the use of multiple tools approaching, I conducted extensive research and ultimately chose skill. I made the mistake of returning to Amazon after receiving the tool and deciding that I liked it enough to purchase a few more of their tools.. And it wasn’t just a slight increase; the prices on Amazon increased by as much as 100 percent and higher, literally overnight.. I was completely taken by surprise. Now I’m stuck with exactly what I set out to avoid: a one-time tool, despite the fact that investing in the tools at the prices they were yesterday was a no-brainer, but today.. I think I’ll stick with Milwaukee for the time being.
In order to leave a genuine revie. I feel obligated to spend a few minutes discussing the overall quality of the tool. At this point, I’ve tried just about every multi-tool available on the market. There are some truly amazing ones, as well as some that aren’t worth the material they’re supposed to be cutting at all. This one falls short of the best, but it is comfortably above the worst in terms of quality. It easily cuts through dense treated lumber with no problems at all. It is not as powerful as a corded model, but that is to be expected given its smaller size. The quality appears to be adequate, though not as good as brands such as Milwaukee or Fein, but with the warranty included, it may be worth taking the chance. Those who are looking to do some work around the house will find this to be an excellent tool for the job. In light of the fact that the price bait and switch I experienced this morning occurred after I needed to use the tool, I’m going to be stuck with it for the time being. We’ll see how well it holds up to the rigors of daily use in a construction environment. I’ll either edit this review or leave another one in a few months with an update on my experience!
