When I looked at drills before I bought one, I saw that both the 20v DC and 120v AC had a history of burning out their motors. I went ahead and bought the Matrix anyway. My Matrix was great for the first year and I would have given it a 5 star rating like many of the other people who have used this item. I thought it was a good idea to use one handle for many different tools.
When the motor dies, you’ll have to buy a new handle for $64 or buy a new Matrix drill, or you’ll have to buy adapters again. You wasted all of your money on the adapters. The AC model has the same thing going for it.
In the middle of the project, my device broke down and I had to start over again. The light worked, but the motor didn’t. I thought that either the motor had died or there was a circuit that stopped the device from working. I changed the batteries..nothing. I waited two hours to see if the motor had overheated. Nothing happened. The next day, the drill worked for two seconds and then died.
So I called B&D to ask about their warranty, but there was no one to help me. Yes, I know you get a two-year warranty. Try to get it and tell me what you think.
I decided to take a risk and believe that I could do it. So, I bought a $2.33+..7-24volt DC 16amp trigger button for my drill on Amazon. More than $2.33: I didn’t want to wait two or three weeks for a package from China.
Black and Decker can’t fix or replace the $2-3 switch that was the problem. They can only sell or replace the entire handle for $64 if it’s bought from B & D itself.
The Matrix needs to be changed in order for the switch to fit and work.
If you want to go forward or back, you’ll need to make the slide switch in front of the trigger switch bigger.
My tool was a sander.
2: The cut-out on the outside of a drill for a trigger switch needs to be bigger and cut square. It’s usually round, but when you turn your drill upside down, you’ll see what I mean.
To make the space for the trigger switch bigger, I used a pocket knife to cut some wood.
Please check the motors in all Matrix drills to see if they’re broken. Also, look at what parts B and D can fix. This drill has only three parts.
