The guide projects a line just to the left of the cut to allow for more precise cuts. It comes with two batteries with a 1.5-hour life and two extra-long bolts to secure the guide to your saw for added security. This is a complete sham.
I purchased this item primarily for the purpose of quick alignment of the mark to cut. Nonetheless, it does not precisely fit my Dewalt 12: CMS. I realized that the notched washer slot on the back is very loose and therefore does not provide a precise fit on the saw arbor, but I figured I could live with it. What I can’t stand is that the beam is extremely dim; at first, I thought it was the batteries, but then I realized that the clear plastic package it arrived in was almost as yellow as the Dewalt saw body. The laser line is more than a sixteenth of an inch away from the actual cut line, and there is no way to align the laser line with the cut line. Buyer beware! I usually read the negative reviews before purchasing an item, but for some reason I didn’t for this one, as there are a few other people who have complained about the dim beam. Perhaps I’ll be able to send it back after all.
