I don’t usually write reviews on the products that I purchase (though I do read them on almost everything beforehand..). However, I’d like to add my two cents to the discussion.

Is this a genuine Italian machine, complete with polished table, waxed tires, and chrome trim??. No way in hell. Does it cut wood day in and day out, adjust accurately, and have enough power to handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Absolutely.

When it comes to purchasing tools for our small-to-medium-sized custom furniture business, I am extremely picky. We required this saw for a specific project involving the production of bandsaw boxes, and our old standby P-matic 14″ was simply not up to the task (no pun intended). After juggling Laguna, Rikon, Powermatic, Jet, Oliver, and Mini Max ($ouch$), I couldn’t justify spending the extra money on a bandsaw that was either the same machine in a different color, or something that had bells and whistles that the average cabinet shop would never use or understand.

In general, and this bandsaw is no exception, Grizzly tools are designed to be functional rather than luxurious. Consider them to be similar to the Ford XLT line: they get the job done and do it well, but they aren’t anything special or luxurious. Grizzly tools have always performed as expected in our shop and at a nearby school, according to my personal experience with their products. This saw is a true workhorse when equipped with a sharp blade (which does not include the one that comes with the saw). It is an excellent companion for lathe turners who require capacity and power but do not require high precision in their work. Despite the fact that I have successfully resawn a few boards on occasion, my efforts pale in comparison to my friend’s MiniMax.

The shipping company accidentally tipped it over while transporting it, but it was unharmed except for the key, which was sheared off inside the ignition. It’s not a big deal.

The foot brake is useful, but I haven’t had to use it yet. The fence is nothing spectacular, but it serves its purpose well.

Overall, I’d buy it again if I needed it for a similar project in the future.
