A complete waste of money. As a professional deck builder, I can tell you that this product is not the best Simpson has ever produced. We are all aware that nominal lumber sizes and actual lumber sizes differ in the field. When not in use with the drill, the one I ordered measured exactly 1 1/2″. The fact that it is useless on the 1 9/16″ boards we see is compounded by the fact that when it is attached and just snugged tight, it reduces the board size to 1 7/16″, which is useless on all but 25% of the boards. This results in the board being removed and replaced, and the tool box being thrown away to collect dust. Finally, it would work well for board layouts with 90-degree angles, but anything with a diagonal design would be out of the question.
