This review is written in the context of my owning the Milwaukee 2401 and the Milwaukee 2402, as well as having previously owned the Bosch screwdriver pictured, as well as another Bosch screwdriver. The Milwaukee 2401 is the closest competitor in terms of price and features, so I’ll use that as a benchmark for comparison.

The positive aspects are as follows.

The 610 is more comfortable and well-balanced than any of its rivals on the road. In addition, the three-light system is more conveniently located and superior to the other systems.

The merely mediocre.

Although superior to the newer electronic clutches, the clutch is similar to other older models and does not offer anything particularly noteworthy. In comparison to the chuck on the 2401, which locks open for true one-handed bit changes, this is a standard system that is common to all impact drivers on the market. It is, however, inferior to the bit holder on the 2401. This is manufactured in Mexico, which I believe is a better option than China.

The negative aspects are as follows.

On either the driver or the battery, there is no battery gauge to be found. Because it comes with two batteries, it might be fine for homeowners, but climbing a 20-foot ladder and realizing your driver is dead is not a good situation for professionals.

The unattractive.

My box had the year 2019 written on it. According to rumor and the DeWalt website, newer units are equipped with 1.5-amp-hour batteries. Mine had a 1.3 on it when it arrived. It did, however, come with a charger that is more compact than my current chargers and is capable of charging at 12 or 20 volts. There was no documentation of this in any form. I placed my order directly through Amazon. A terrible business practice is the use of inconsistent packaging while maintaining the same model numbers over time.

Last but not least, my recommendation to Stanley Black and Decker is that they change the model number of this item, include a battery gauge, and ship it with modern 2.0ah batteries. Keep it as a brushed model because I believe the majority of people will use the 20v XR line for larger jobs, and doing so would allow you to keep the weight and price as low as possible. Also, dare I say it, make the new model entirely in the United States of America.
