The overall design is very appealing. Lower gear was cracked in a couple of places, and the gears have so much play that they don’t mesh well, and the teeth were grinding on the edges instead of interlocking; this will cause the gears to strip out completely. When I put some machine oil on the gears, it didn’t make any difference in terms of smoothing them out. The top handle unscrews to make the device more compact for storage, but when I cranked the drive handle while holding the top handle, the force unscrewed the top handle enough that I couldn’t maintain a firm grip on the top handle.
The design itself was primarily made of metal with plastic handles, with the exception of the wheels. Your knuckles are in direct contact with the gears, so if you’re clumsy or have thick fingers, you’ll snag them on something.
All in all, it was just a piece of poor workmanship. Normally, I would keep something if it worked perfectly, but it took me only five minutes and a test hole with a drill bit to realize that I could not rely on this drill to do its job properly. I’ve begun the process of returning the item. It appears that the seller did not respond immediately, but they do have two business days to respond, and it is the end of the first business day at this point.
