My excitement level skyrocketed when I saw this title in my review queue, and I chose it right away. As a side gig, I assist in the renovation of residential properties.
The majority of the time, I use a power drill with attachments that look like this. However, because the drills I have are so large, it can be a little tedious at times to use them. I believed that the small size of this unit would make it much more user friendly, and that it would essentially perform the same functions as the larger unit.
On the surface, this appears to be the ideal solution for cleaning tubs, sinks, ovens, and other surfaces. However, as I quickly discovered, this simply isn’t the case in this instance.
In the photos below, you can see me cleaning the tub of a rehab condo. The way this tool operates necessitated me spending the better part of two hours cleaning it. Clearly, the before and after photos are not particularly impressive.
Here are the issues that I had to deal with.
1. The battery life is insufficient. In the event that you plan to use this for anything other than very small tasks, the battery will be depleted very quickly.
2. If you’re doing what I’m doing and cleaning a tub, this will get hot pretty quickly. In a nutshell, it does not handle being used continuously for more than a few minutes at a time very well at all.
3. When the unit begins to heat up, or if it comes into contact with any type of highly abrasive material, a safety feature automatically activates and shuts the unit down.
On the surface, that appears to be a fantastic feature. That, on the other hand, shouldn’t be happening when I’m barely pressing on the surface. I’ve included a video to demonstrate the importance of safety.
4. This is extremely underpowered, has little torque, and the motor is simply incapable of withstanding a great deal of pressure. At the end of the day, this is a contributing factor to issues 2-3.
5. The pads that come with the package will not last very long. The only one that will come to life is the one that resembles a scouring brush in appearance.
By using a scouring brush instead of this tool, I could have completed what took me 2 hours to complete with this tool in half the time. If I had used my power drill, I could have done a much better job in less than 45 minutes and had a much cleaner tub.
To summarize, this is an excellent concept that suffers from a severe lack of power, battery life, and useful attachments. Auto safety is turned off, and there is no power, making this incredibly tedious to use. As you can see, it does nothing to save time or provide convenience.
Except for shoe shining, there’s no way I can recommend this for any other purpose (it would likely be great for that).
