When used wet or dry, Silicon Carbide produces an even cut and is excellent for wet or dry sanding and polishing of marble and granite, as well as rubber and fiberglass, as well as automotive paint and finish removal. This product can be used in both wet and dry applications. 6″x1.5″ belts are 1.5″ wide and 18-15/16″ long, and they are designed to fit a 6″x1.5″ expandable rubber drum. 6″x2.5″ belts are 2.5″ wide and 18-15/16″ long, and they are designed to fit a 6″x2.5″ expandable rubber drum. 8″x3″ belts are 3″ wide and 25-7/32″ long, and they are designed to fit an 8″x3″ expandable rubber drum. Pay close attention: there is only one belt.
This fit perfectly on my 8-inch expanding rubber drum without any modifications. And he did an excellent job of polishing some difficult granite. Unfortunately, it didn’t last very long, despite the fact that I kept the water supply running the entire time. The grit was completely gone after about 20 minutes. Even for a $5 belt, it appeared to be quite quick. It will most likely be fine for softer materials such as glass, which is what it is intended for. Diamond belts are going for $85 right now, so I’m thinking I’ll pick up a couple more and give it another shot.
