When I went to a big box store, I bought this saw. I really needed something for the small things that I don’t want to put on my best fence stand, because this fence stand is a beast. Also, I should say that I have a lot of Makita 18v tools, but I found that the price of their saw was just too high for a small battery-powered saw. With that, I set my sights on this little guy and the Milwaukee that looks like it. First, the price is the best in class. Second, the price is the best in class. For a small saw, I don’t think the price should be too high.

When you open the box, the saw is ready to use. It comes with a table hold down, a dust bag, a charger, and a 4.0ah battery. This knife also came with a 40-tooth blade.

There was a 2 bar charge on the saw. So after the saw was charged, I went outside and did a small cabinet job with it. I tried it out. I know a lot of men and friends who use the 12″ Dewalt saws. Even though my Festool is better, I’m totally jealous of the shadow line. Lasers don’t work very well, but the shadow line works great. Very interesting.

I took a piece of red oak hardwood flooring and cut it up to see how it would work on the floor. After the first cut, I thought the blade was fast enough and didn’t burn the wood. It also didn’t have any trouble going through the dense oak. It then cuts both ways on a 45. It makes good cuts and a great 45. Afterwards, this saw only bevels one way. A novice who can’t cut backwards or upside down may have trouble with this. On a 45-degree bevel, the saw didn’t cut the oak square. I tried again with a plunge cut and then again with the bevel slide, and it didn’t work either time. Maybe I got a bad saw. I don’t think so. One of my teams has this saw, and I’ll try the same thing with it at some point. Toe kicks, scribes, and I even ran a little quarter round with it today. I don’t think I’ll use this saw very often.

Overall, I think this saw will become one of my most important tools. The convenience factor is worth the small cost. I think I’ll even buy more for my other trucks. Over all, this saw is great. It has enough power for small jobs. There’s one thing I wish it could do that I don’t like.
