Powermatic is slightly better but not worth the premium if you ask me. Shawn, My understanding is Grizzly tools are manufactured in China, Powermatic is owned by WMH who also makes Jet tools made in Taiwan. Steel City tools are made in China, but they have their own factory.
Lo and behold, here is a pretty good looking 180, made in 1990, and except for the electricals, it’s made in Taiwan ! So now I’m a little confused. The Bandsaw and TS tags were made in the US. I think everyone at some point wanted all USA made power tools like you do. Many many years ago USA made tools were king and pretty much anything made overseas was complete garbage. If you really want truly usa made wood working equipment, like others mentioned, you’ll have to go with used.
