Back to the problem at hand: after pretty lengthy reselling session, my motor stopped working. If getting a replacement motor is an option my fellow Creekers think I should pursue, I would like to get the most powerful one I can that still runs on 110 current/volts or whatever the hell that is. I very much appreciate any advice and suggestions about what brand/model motor I should get in where I should look for it.

Reason is, there’s a detergent in regular motor oil and stuff like WD-40, that’s the WORST stuff you can put in a motor with sleeve brg’s like that. Most of the time when the motor “Growls” or “Hums”, it’s because that start cap is bad, or there’s an open in the start winding.

As for what HP is needed, keep in mind that Delta recommended a 1/3hp motor for their 14″ saws for general use, and a 1/2hp motor if using the riser block or working with heavy timber.
It will have some sort of spring assembly that will close the switch when the motor is not rotating, but as the motor spins up the switch will “Click” open. Funny thing about is it that Delta sells a replacement motor for $155.09, more than the original purchase price of the saw.
