By no means is it new.
I understand that many of these merchants buy whole kits in bulk and then sell parts of them for more money since customers would rather buy a drill for under $200 than a $500+ “starting kit.”
However, the impact has definitely been used for some time, since the battery port displays symptoms of wear that could only be caused by frequent battery changes for extended periods of time.
I’ve heard of people purchasing these tools, putting protective cases on them, and then reselling them as “new” when they are in fact heavily used but have been cautious not to cause any external damage in order to make it appear as if it was just taken out of the box.
I don’t mind a lightly used tool, but given how the battery terminal connection is barely held in place, I can only image how much wear it’s already seen and how much life I’ll get out of it before it needs to be repaired.
I’m only writing this review to warn potential customers.
This is clearly an issue with the person/company selling these products on Amazon, and has nothing to do with Amazon or Dewalt.
I was originally planning on purchasing a Milwaukee, but I already own other DeWalt tools and batteries, so I figured I’d save my money.
