We just made one of our most powerful tools even better with the 60V MAX* Reciprocating Saw. It gives out up to 19 percent more power than the DCS388 60V MAX* Reciprocating Saw**. It has 1874 unit watts out, which is more than the DCS388. Through our new DEWALT FLEXVOLT technology, this DEWALT Reciprocating Saw can go at a no-load speed of 3000 spm. This means that it has the power of a corded reciprocating saw with the portability and convenience of a cordless. Batteries and chargers are not sold together.
I’ve had a small DeWalt reciprocating saw for a long time that I love because it’s so easy to use for small tasks, like cutting a 1-inch branch. But it won’t be able to cut a 4-inch branch. The 60V DCS389B can go through a 4-inch piece of wood in about a minute. There is no doubt that a chainsaw would be faster, but you wouldn’t use a chainsaw to cut roots or small trees below ground level. Because it has a battery, the saw is very heavy. Anyone who can work with it one-handed is stronger or braver than I am.
