Look for the washing machine motor located underneath the tub and toward the rear of the cabinet. It’s easiest to identify the motor by the belt running around the pulley or wheel at the top of the motor. Use a socket wrench or wrench to remove the bolt holding the motor pulley in place.
To find the pulley, you will either need to open the technical hatch, which is often located on the back of the machines for repairing the belt and replacing the pulley, or if there is no hatch, remove the back wall. Remove the belt, for this, grab the belt with your left hand, and twist the pulley with your right, the belt will come off;. To replace a part, you must first carefully remove the old drum pulley.
The new pulley has plastic “Teeth” visible from one end of the pulley. Figuring out how to put it on correctly will save you some time and probably some pulley teeth. Put the pulley on, turning it slightly until you feel the grooves on the spindle line up with the grooves on the inside of the pulley.
With a new drum costing more than £100, plus labour costs, it may be more cost-effective to buy a new machine. Any of the bearings in the washing machine’s transmission, the tub bearing or the sleeve bearings in the motor itself can cause early motor burnout. Press the motor into the washing machine and downward or toward the edge of the appliance.
