Model XRF02 is a Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Auto Feed Screwdriver. It has a lot of power and a wide range of capacity in a small package. Star Protection Computer Controls were made by Makita to improve tool performance and extend battery life. Star Protection is a type of communication technology that allows a Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and keep an eye on things while they’re being used to make sure they don’t get too hot, get too full, or get too low. For more versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries that have a star on them. These batteries have Star Protection inside. The XRF02 has a powerful Makita-built 4-pole motor that can run at 4,000 RPM. It has a high capacity range of 1″ to 2-1/8″ for screws that are collated. The design of the silent clutch is made of more durable materials, which makes it more efficient and quieter for the driver. The rugged aluminum dust-proof auto feed housing ensures smooth sliding action, while the screw guide prevents the screw strip from tangling and can fold against the auto feed housing for storing and carrying. Sold as a BARE TOOL. I’ve been hanging rock for 35 years and this little gem is a keeper. It’s a must have when your throwing rock by yourself! I thought I had it set up right out of the box because I’m a guy and I know everything about tools. I put a belt of screws in the gun and tried to jam screws into a scrap 2×4 like a kid with a new light sabre. But it kept jamming on me with every attempt, so I’d have to try and pull out the belt of screws, poke my hand 15 times with those really really pointy screws and feed in a new belt while cursing my purchase…. It took me a while to get tired of this. Nobody was looking when I read the instructions, so I slapped my forehead because I’m retarded. I then adjusted it in accordance with “Makita’s” recommended adjustments (not my adjustments), and it hasn’t missed a beat yet. A system called SWAG doesn’t work with this piece of equipment. Operator error is most likely to blame if it’s jamming on you, like it was for me. 😉
