As a cutting guide, it comes with 12ft of V rail.

To build a timber frame, you need to cut the logs into squares.

For flooring, siding, or trim, cut beams to the right lengths and widths, then glue or nail them together.

Make plunge cuts with Granberg’s Alaskan chainsaw Mill to make dimensional lumber. Do this with the help of the mill.

In this case, the Granberg Edging Mill (also known as the Mini-Mill) is a great match for the MK-IV Alaskan Mill. For timber frame construction, this small vertical milling attachment makes long, square beams from a log. It also cuts beams to the right length and width to be used for flooring, sliding or as trim. Also, you can use this to make plunge cuts to make dimensional lumber with your Alaskan Mill.

There is a great tool for making boards out of logs with this Granberg mini mill model g555b called a “mini mill..

The first cut is the most important because it determines how straight your other cuts will be. First, nail or screw a short 2×4 to each end of the log. The middle of this 2×4 should be at the same height as the top, round part of the log. Place a level on this short 2 X 4 to make sure it’s level. Short 2 X 4s should be attached to both ends of the log. Then, lay the 2 X 6 that the rails are attached to on top of the log and over these short 2 X 4s at each end. It’s time to make the first cut. Align this 2 X 6 to the width you want it to be. A nail or screw should be used to hold down the 2 X 6. You can now cut.

This first cut makes the next ones very simple.

Make straight and long cuts with this tool.

Keep the chainsaw sharp and get a ripping chain instead of a safety chain saw chain.

I’ve used this tool to cut white pine and oak logs, and I’m very happy with how it worked.
