This is my second Ryobi drill. My first was an 18v blue Ryobi drill that I bought in 2008. It still works, but I wanted one that could get into tight places. There are three parts that hold the bit. They don’t work well. On my old drill, the inside points are flat, which makes it easy to grip a round drill bit. There is a new one that has pointed inside points, but I’ve never had so much trouble getting drill bits to work with it. In the beginning, it takes a long time to get them in the right place. Then they come loose (stick to the wood) with the slightest resistance from the wood.
Also know that because the chuck is so small, the space below it is very small. It’s not easy to put double-ended driver bits into this drill because there isn’t enough space between the chuck and the mechanism inside.
All of my tools are Ryobi, so I’m going to keep this one. I’ll use my old one until I can get my Dremel into there and flatten out those points.
