An oil pan bolt broke while I was trying to back it out, so I had to use a different tool. The thought of having to buy a new ratchet at the worst time of the year made my heart sink. This was my most used power tool. As soon as I found out that almost everything inside the ratchet can be changed, I was excited. If you lose the brass bushing that the crankshaft slips into, you’ll have to buy the whole top end of the ratchet for about $84 plus tax and shipping, which can be hard to justify over just buying a new ratchet tool alone. There is no need to worry if that is the case. Just put this crankshaft in there and use it until it breaks. Lucky for me, I had a brass bushing that I was able to make work in the ratchet. Make one out of zinc nuts. This crankshaft is a little different from the one that came out. It has a deeper groove near the bottom. I don’t know why, but it has a new part number. You know, if they got rid of the bushing and made the drive on the crank bigger, it wouldn’t break. It wouldn’t break if they did that.
