The DCF890 3/8-inch Impact Wrench is small and lightweight, so it can be used in small places. The 3 LED lights make it easier to see in dark places. Plus, the DEWALT impact wrench has a brushless motor that gives it more power, run time, and durability.
The reason this has so many bad reviews isn’t clear to me (youtube, forums, and such). This one has a 3/8″ anvil instead of the 20V with the 1/4” chuck. A lot of people say there is a lot less power in this one. Is that right? This has a lot of power for its size. This one is better than the one with 1/4 of an inch “Chuck, is this one with the socket in it shorter than the other one. So I can get it into places that the other won’t go, so I can use it.
I have been using the 12V Max impact with the 1/4” hex shank for a long time now “About five years. You should buy it. It is great, but it is not strong enough for most bolts that are more than 10mm. When I work, I use this tool every day to remove valve cover bolts, intake bolts, skid plates, and splash shields. It has also come in very handy. Most things with a 10mm bolt or smaller, and some things with bigger bolts, can be used. This tool is great for running in oil pan bolts because it doesn’t have a lot of power. I don’t have to worry about cross-threading bolts when I run them in without thinking about it.
Now, about this 3/8 20V Max XR. It has more power. The 150 ft/lb rating is only kind of true. Remove bolts that have been torqued more than 100 ft/lbs and this gun won’t do it. Lock tite or rust might make bolts that tight that high too tight for this kind of force. It can also be used to remove more than 100 ft’lbs of torque from bolts that have been torqued to the correct amount. That’s if you don’t have an 18-inch TV “Extension with a socket that can move. A torque stick, or torque wrench, can be used to make sure the lug nuts were tightened correctly. This tool makes it easy to remove the nuts.
It takes a Dewalt 5 mAH battery to run the impact. The charge lasts for ever. I still use the 12V Max every day at work, but now I also use this one every day. I also use it at home. I use it for a lot of brake jobs, small suspension bolts, and anything up to about 21mm, and it usually takes care of them. The battery will last for a long time if you use it like that for a long time. There are times when I still need to use my air impacts to get more power. 3/8 air: I have the Ingersoll 2135 tiMAX for it, and I use it all the time. Every time, the ingersoll will be better than this dewalt. Air hoses are annoying, so I use this first and only use air when I need to.
People who don’t like having to move air hoses around should try this. It’s also good for people who want to use it at home. Maybe it doesn’t have a lot of extra power, but for its size and ease of use, it has enough. I didn’t buy it because I thought it would be as strong as my Ingersoll, which I already had. To avoid having to move the air hose around as much, I bought it.
