Buy Dewalt DCD796 20V MAX XR Lithium-Ion Cordless Compact Hammer Drill (Bare Tool)

The DEWALT DCD796B Compact Hammer drill is great for drilling and hammering in a wide range of materials, like wood and metal. In this hammer drill, there is a DEWALT brushless motor that can run for up to 57% longer than one with a brushed motor. The small (7.5 inches. front to back) and light (3.6 pounds) design fits into small spaces. High speed transmission with two speed settings (0-550/0-2,000 RPM) can make applications run up to 30% faster. Ergonomic comfort grip handle gives you the right balance and control over the tool. An all-metal 1/2-inch ratcheting chuck that has a lot of strength for holding bits. 3-mod. LED lights can be up to 20 times brighter than the previous model in dark or small places. LED spotlight mode has a 20-minute shut-off feature, which lets you work for longer in dark or small places.

This DeWalt hammer drill is powerful and consistent, just like other DeWalt tools. But I’m writing this review more because I found an accessory than because the drill itself is good.

DeWalt and Black & Decker say that this hammer drill can’t be used with a side handle. This isn’t true, but it’s a good thing. The side handle that I found on Amazon is made by DeWalt, and it fits this model just fine. It does take a little “elbow grease” to get it on, but not much. As soon as it was mounted, it worked great. My experiment worked out great.

In this case, N443408. The model number is for the one that works. Before you try to put the side handle on the silver ring next to the slip clutch, you must fully unscrew the bolt on the handle.

When the machine isn’t in use, the side handle could stay on the machine to avoid the (very small) strain that comes with taking it off and putting it back on. Take the handle off and push it down until it is level with the trigger grip. Then put it away like you normally would.

They should really change the specs of this drill to show that they do indeed sell a side-handle for this machine.
