First of all, this is my first compressed air tool. I thought long and hard about whether or not to buy one. Well, what did I think. I’m building a shed, and now I can’t even think about doing it without a tool like this. I’d have to hammer in every nail by hand. Make sure you get a compressed air-powered framing nailer for any job you have to do with framing. You won’t regret it at all.
When I looked at amazon.com reviews, I found that this was the best choice at the lower-to-middle end of the price range. They said it was good, and I was interested in the 7-year warranty and the fact that there was also a case. I like to take good care of my tools, and I couldn’t think of buying an item like this without a case. This meant that a lot of the competition was out of the running.
In one of the reviews that I looked at, someone said that the tool looked good. I agree with you that a tool needs to look good and work well. After I opened the shipping box and the tool’s case, I was amazed by how beautiful the tool looked. It was in the case that came with it, along with a small bag of Allen screws and a small container for oil (you use the oil to instill a few drops into the air inlet of the tool before every time you use it). The tool looks like it was made with a lot of thought and care.
On to how to use the tool. Well, it’s bigger than I thought. Unknown to me, I thought they would be like electric drills in size. No, it’s about 50% bigger. Weird, too (around 8.5 lbs). Not at all. I am a 5’5″, 160 lb male. I didn’t have any trouble with the weight.
I just finished framing the floor of my shed, and wow, this great tool did a great job. It drives the 3″ nails into the ground with a soft-sounding “poof” that doesn’t hurt. A simple turn of the adjusting screw can make it easy to change how far the nail is from the wall. As soon as the tool comes, it has a guard on the nozzle to keep the working surface from being scratched by the tool. This is a great feature, but I think it makes it a little less powerful to drive. If you don’t care about scratching the work surface, don’t use it. One of my favorite things about this car is that I can turn the exhaust to any angle around 360 degrees.
In order to use this tool, you will need a compressor. I bought the Bostitch BTFP02012 6 Gallon Pancake Compressor, and it has worked great for me so far. Make sure you also get an air accessory kit, like this one: Primefit IK2004-2 50-feet PVC Air Hose with 25-piece air accessory kit and storage case.
One thing to keep in mind: The manual is a little short on instructions, so you’ll have to figure some things out on your own.
As for the Freeman nailer, I can’t say enough good things about it, and no, I haven’t been paid to write a review. I love this thing so much. Go for it!
