At first, I thought these batteries would be heavier than my Makita 18v. set with the 3 amp hour batteries. But the new 5 amp batteries are the same weight as the 3’s and 4’s, so they’re not any heavier. The impact driver weighs 1 1/2 oz less than the old set, and the drill weighs 3 oz more. The case has space for everything in the picture, as well as two slots for extra batteries. For the past week, I’ve only used this set to build things that aren’t very complicated. This is my report. There are four “speeds” on the impact, and I like them. Speed does not always work when I have gloves on, and it may need a strong push to get it to work. The tool is light, small, and powerful. The drill has a different feel than the one before it. There is no slack in the gears at all. They are very tight. A lot of torque comes in such a small package. Keep the handle handy when you’re using big bits. Using Tapcons, I ran some in concrete and some in block. It was quick and easy. Also, auger bits were used in SYP 2-bys and 4-bys without being bound. It doesn’t feel too heavy in your hand. In a short time, the rapid charger will charge all of the Makita 18v slide on batteries. It doesn’t matter if the batteries have the star on them or not. Any Makita 18v. lithium slide-on batteries will work with both of these tools. If this set lasts as long as the one before it did, I’ll be very happy.
