This allows the pad to get closer to the floor and be more effective at stripping.

If you want to remove four or more coats of finish from a hard floor, you should use the 3MTM High Productivity Pad 7300. The stripping pad’s open design allows the stripping solution to flow through the pad, which reduces the risk of the pad becoming clogged. Continuous nylon filaments, evenly coated with resin and abrasive particles, keep the pad working well for a long time. For rotary and automatic floor cleaners, it comes in round and square sizes. For the best fit and contact between the pad and the floor, you can back the pad with a red buffing pad.

A 20-inch machine is the one I use these on. I use them to get a little extra protection under the kick plates and such. They work great and have a lot more grit than the same model in the 20-inch size. I have both pads in different sizes, from 7100 to 7300, and they are very different. Worked well to do a strip and wax at three different auto parts stores in Washington, USA. Only because they were on sale for a very low price as an open box item. I only bought them then.
