The brass shaft is so much better and more durable than the plastic shaft, and it looks better, too. If you’re going to live in one and want to make changes for the long run, this is a must-have for your toilet. I will admit that it takes a long time to set up. It’s important to hand-tighten the pin to the ball valve as far as it can go. Then push the brass pin into the toilet from the outside so the ball valve bends in and you can tighten the screw down as far as it can. It’s really a two-person job, or it’s easier to do that way, because it’s more work. The finished product looks good to me, so I’m happy with it.
