I was excited when this came. The instructions were easy to follow, but they were a little off. If two 10 mm wrenches are used, they say they should be tightened with two of them. Instead, they should have used an 11 mm and a 10 mm. Fortunately, I had both. After this, the device was easy to put together and work with. It took 24 hours for the lock-tight to be set before I used it. It started to peel off the paint after just one hour of use. A strong base log was important for cutting. Mostly, I’m cutting soft wood that’s been dried out. If even the smallest piece has a knot, the splitter won’t be able to go through. I had to hit logs with a mallet many times to get them out of the ground. The problem is that I don’t have a problem cutting perfect straight-grained wood. My problem is with the more difficult pieces, which I thought this splitter would help me with. I’m sorry, but it hasn’t worked out for me. I would have hoped for more given how much it cost. Maybe I got a bad one.
