The product is very durable.

The M18 FUEL 6-1/2″ Circular Saw is the fastest saw in its class. It can cut up to 30% faster, run for twice as long, and last three times longer than other saws in its class. The POWERSTATE Brushless Motor is more powerful than any other 18-Volt cordless circular saw and lets you do jobs that used to require a corded tool. The M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 Extended Capacity Battery Pack (not included) can run for up to 2.5 times longer than other batteries. It also does more work per charge and more work over the life of the battery than other batteries. The saw’s REDLINK PLUS Intelligence makes sure that it performs at its best and protects it from overloading, overheating, and over-draining. For the 18-volt lithium-ion circular saw, the guards and shoe are made of cast magnesium, which makes them both durable and light. The saw also has a built-in LED light and a rafter hook for easy storage while you’re at work. There is a blade wrench on the saw.

I have a lot of tools made by Milwaukee, and I use them all the tim. Until now, everything worked well. I bought this saw. Any two pieces of stock lumber are hard to cut. In this picture, there is a blade guard that is too close to the cutting deck. This means that when the blade guard pushes against the wood, it doesn’t slide down. You either have to ram the slide into the wood or wedge something between the blade guard housing to keep it from coming out. I showed it to a Milwaukee rep at Home Depot, and he also told me to wedge the guard open, which is what I did. As you can see, this is a very dangerous way to do things. The blade is always exposed.

Other customers have had the same problems, and the Milwaukee rep said he had heard about them, too. His only suggestion was for me to call the Milwaukee help line, since I didn’t buy the saw at Home Depot. There are two ways to get the guard down on the saw: I could disable the main safety feature, or I could ram the saw against the board to get the guard down. This is what I have now.

Use another saw if you want to cut 2 by lumber.

Whether it’s Milwaukee or the distributor, I’m willing to work with them to come up with a solution.
