It has a powerful 10.5 amp motor that can do 11, 000 RPM to handle even the most difficult jobs.

If a wheel comes to a stop, Sjs technology lets the drive shaft slip so that the motor and gears don’t get hurt.

Electric brakes are used to get the most done.

Rubberized soft grip handles give the operator more comfort.

No lock-on feature on this switch on the back of the handle.

An overview of what this item is abou.

Makita’s 5″ SJSTM angle grinder has 10.5 amps of power, but it also has features that make it easier to use and protect the motor. GA5020Y: This tool is made with Makita’s new SJSTM mechanical clutch system, which helps protect the gears for longer tool life.

There is a Manufacturer.

The new GA5020Y 5 inch grinder is made with a labyrinth construction design that keeps the motor and bearings clean and dust-free so the tool lasts a long time, too. Zig-zag varnish protects the armature from dust and other things that might get on it. Externally accessible brushes make them more useful. I work with welders, fabricators, masons, and people who do maintenance and repair work.

So, the good and the bad.

Pros.

A good start. The soft start on this grinder was the first time I knew how much I wanted it.

– Brushes that can be used outside (lots of other grinders require access panels and such.

and handle are just right for me, even though I’m used to a lot of smaller grinders.

The shroud is easy to move without tools.

– lots of powe.

Con.

– start the lock-off. I don’t like this. When you hold the disc face down, you can only get to the lock off with your right hand. When I try to bolt it to my vice disc, I have a hard time because the spring is too heavy. I’m going to have to get rid of it.

– there is no lock on the trigger (I am using a zip tie for now.

Because the holes are too small and close together, you can’t use any wrench but the one that comes with it. It turned out that I had made a nice wrench that had pins on one end and a real wrench on the other. Use the same wrench to lock and unlock the nut as well as remove wire wheels, cups, and more.

You can use this tool to remove standard wheels and cups that don’t have nuts. It has no open end, so it can do this.

– The grinder gets a little warm. There isn’t anything wrong with the way it works, but I was surprised that such an easy-to-use tool would get hot even when it was only being used for a short time.

In the end, I think this is a great grinder, but I’m going to look for parts from Makite to make the trigger lock. There are other models that don’t have these problems.
