When you want to drive nails in at an angle, you don’t need a tool.

In this case, the nailer is a pneumatic 16 gauge 2-1/2 in straight finish nailer. 16 Gauge Nails can be used from 1-inch to 2-1/2-inch.

To make a frame for my wife, I bought this nailer. She can hang pictures on strings inside the frame. She saw it on Pinterest and told me I had to finish it by the weekend or she would be mad at me. I got the nailer two days after I ordered it, so I had a whole day to play with it and figure out how to use it. Connected it to my compressor and used 1 3/4″ 18 gauge nails to play with scrap wood. First, I tried the depth control knob and found that there was almost no control at all. In every setting, the nail head stayed level with the level of the wood, no matter how high or low the nail was set. I never went any further. To get the head to go below the surface, I had to use a small punch. Nail strips were also a weird thing. Pull back on a spring lever and lock it in place. Then, you move a guard a little and put the strip inside before you close everything up. Because the slot the nail strips go into is like a well, you can’t see it when it drops in. If it doesn’t line up, you learn the hard way. Afterward, I tried to get some last nails out of scrap wood. It was almost impossible to get them because of how well the slot was laid out and hidden. To get the job done, they had to use a metal pick and a magnet at some point. Shoot out the rest of them if there are only a few. If you have to change the size of your nails a lot, it’s going to make you stressed. It was easy to nail the wood. As long as they didn’t drive them deeper than flush with the surface, no one got stuck. Finally, the frame turned out great.
