Although putting this together required significantly more effort than putting together my 3D printer, the instructions (which were all illustrated) were extremely simple to follow. Work on a flat surface and assemble everything in the manner depicted in the pictures, and you should have no problems.
The machine makes a lot of noise when it’s running with the spindle, but that was to be expected. It caved in some scrap pieces of wood with relative ease. However, there are upgrades you can purchase or build to make this a much more capable machine. I wouldn’t recommend using it on aluminum or anything harder as-is.
Even at half power and with the glasses on, the laser is extremely visible. Make sure to keep your glasses on at all times while the laser is operating; don’t take any chances with your vision. When used at full power, it was unable to burn any of the example SVGs into a piece of scrap wood, instead leaving a charred mess in its wake. I was able to achieve satisfactory results after reducing the laser power to half (max power 500 in LaserGRBL) and increasing the feed rate a little.
