An excellent device, but the velcro sheet that is glued to the surface of the sanding head, with no additional mechanical reinforcement, will eventually cause the velcro pad to vibrate away from the device.
The use of Velcro is an excellent solution for a device of this nature. Failure appears to be inevitable without a very good method of keeping the velcro sheet attached..the unit’s vibration, combined with the non-perfect (what IS perfect – I can’t say) adhesive used for this element, seems to be a foregone conclusion.
In order to ensure that the velcro sheet remains permanently bonded to the surface of the sanding head, I wish there were additional clips or light-weight attachment bolts – something – anything – that could be used. As evidenced by the distressing photograph. My unit IS being replaced, and I am concerned that this will not be the last time I encounter this problem..
Everything else about this device appeals to me, and it performs admirably – or at least it did until the velcro-glue problem occurred. It took 4-6 hours for the separation to occur after net/total use (several sessions of danding – not all at one time). If this sheet detachment occurs again (and I have a strong suspicion that it will), I may have to install flat-head nylon bolts and washers after the warranty period has expired in order to ensure that I have a functional sander at all times.
Apart from that, everything about this device is excellent. Powerful device, good battery life, easy to hold and maneuver, and the option to purchase additional batteries, which are a little on the expensive side, but not by much.
The battery charging unit can be quite noisy, but because it is a rapid-charging device, it clearly gets hot, and the auto-silent cooling fans are the best solution – and are greatly appreciated by users.
